Godspeed to two Synod staff

This week the Synod says farewell to two staff members: Laura Kalemkarian, who has been our Youth Ministry Assistant and receptionist, and Bette Anton, Coordinator for Vocations and Leadership. Laura and Bette have been integral parts of the Synod community and we'll miss their enthusiasm and dedication. We thank God for their ministries!

60 Minutes Stewardship Celebration

Get info on 12 stewardship topics in one hour this Wednesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 506 Haws Ave., Norristown, Twelve different stewardship topics will be presented in the course of one hour by a variety of speakers.  Everything from response methods to stewardship with youth and narrative budgets will be presented.  Get a taste of the best available in stewardship ministry. Don’t worry about being bored, any topic that doesn’t interest you will be finished in 5 minutes!  This is stewardship for the short attention span… with follow-up available for more in depth exploration.

LTSP Open House June 21

Is God inviting you to learn, to lead, to be formed? Asking you to be a leader in the church? Is God calling you to something new? The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) will host an Open House on Thursday, June 21, 2007, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You’ll have an opportunity to reflect on these questions, to meet others who may be feeling God’s call, and to consider what in the world God wants you to do. You will meet seminary students, staff, and faculty, and experience our convenient yet retreat-like campus and state-of-the-art Brossman Learning Center.

Joyful noise for Quakertown Food Pantry

Learn about Alabama disaster recovery

Rev. Dr. Karnig Kazanjian, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mobile, Alabama will do Temple Talks at Frenchtown Presbyterian Church, 4th Street, Frenchtown, NJ on June 24, 2007 at the 8am and 9:30am worship services.  Rev. Kazanjian and Lutheran Disaster Response continue to work closely together to bring recovery to southern Mobile county. As of April 2007 St. Paul's hosted 69 teams from 22 states totaling 768 volunteers of various denominations.  In addition to housing and feeding volunteers, they continue to help persons in the community with rent, utilities, storage facilities and medical bills.

MIF announces new rates

On July 1,2007 MIF will offer an 18 month Mission Term Select account that will offer a 5.75% return on a minimum $5000 deposit.   This new offering is only for new deposits and not for transfer of funds already on deposit with MIF.  This offer may end at any time.  Other accounts are also available.  MIF offers MissionTerm Select accounts with maturity dates ranging from 1 to 7 years with a $100 minimum deposit.  Mission Plus (demand account) is also offered, with check book availability.
