Mission Interpretation / Communications
Communications :: (n.) The art and technique of using words, images and metaphors effectively to impart information or ideas and influence behavior.

The role of the Office of Mission Interpretation / Communications is to tell the story of the ministry we share as the people, congregations and leaders of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod and to empower congregations and leaders to communicate the Gospel via multimedia, Internet, print and other media.

Bob Fisher serves as assistant to the bishop for mission interpretation. A member of the synod staff for 10 years, Bob has long experience in print and visual journalism, media relations, web design and communications strategy. Prior to joining the synod in 1997, he was periodicals editor at Lehigh University, where he was a liaison with national media including The New York Times, ABC News, The Los Angeles Times, and others. His work has been honored by the Religion Communicators' Council, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers' Association.

In addition to providing communications counsel and support to Bishop Burkat and the synod's staff and committees, Mission Interpretation manages the synod's website, MinistryLINK.org, the regular SEPANews e-mail update, media relations, communications support for synod events including the Assembly and FLY gathering, and production of videos and other new media initiatives.
