Activated by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we equip the saints and the congregations for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.

Volunteer at The Welcome Center this summer

The Welcome Center, a Mission Development begun in 2007 and located at 2111 Sansom Street in a lovely space donated by the Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion was founded "to provide an environment of hospitality, safety, and respect for individuals experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia."

Though for many, summer is a time of slowing down and time away, this season can be an especially difficult time for people living on the street. Rising temperatures, along with a drop in available summer resources make it especially important for The Welcome Center to be available as a place of respite during these summer months.

The Welcome Center invites you to consider sharing part of your summer as a volunteer. The Center’s drop-in hours are Tuesday and Friday from 1:00-4:00. Hospitality is central to The Center’s work, and your varied responsibilities would include preparing and serving lunch, set up and clean-up, working in our clothing "boutique" and sharing conversation with our guests. For more information please contact Pastor Violet Little at 215-849-3563 or . You may also call to arrange a visit to The Welcome Center as you consider the possibility of volunteering. Volunteers must be eighteen years of age or older.
