The Synod Assembly is the annual meeting of the synodical expression of the church, a gathering of lay and rostered leaders to celebrate, and encourage and direct the ministries of the church.

The Twenty Third Annual Assembly of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will be held at the Franconia Mennonite Church, 613 Harleysville Pike (Route 113), Telford, PA

  • Friday, May 7, 2010 Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Program begins at 9:30 a.m. The day will conclude by approximately 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 8, 2010 Assembly resumes at 9:30 a.m. The day is planned to conclude by 4 p.m.

Watch new malaria video

A new 2-minute video features a school for orphans in Mozambique where a clinic is being built in partnership with the Lutheran Church in Mozambique and the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI). The clinic will test for malaria, provide life-saving drugs and stop the deadly disease.

ELCA seeks input on genetics statement

The ELCA is seeking input on a draft social statement on Genetics that will be presented to the 2011 Churchwide Assembly. Congregations and members are encouraged to review and discuss the draft statement, which addresses faithful responses to issues including human cloning, genetic testing and screening, genetically modified food, and other subjects.
